In order to ensure that Direct Mail continues to be a relevant part of the marketing mix, the Postal Service promotion encouraging customers to incorporate technologies such as Augmented Reality, that can be created for free using AVO.
By encouraging the use of technologies integrated in-mail, the Postal Service expects to increase the value of direct mail and retain the volumes of transactional mail, thereby ensuring long-term product growth.
The 2019 promotions ranged between 3 to 6 months in duration, starting in February. The Postal Service decided to focus the 2019 Promotions on the following areas: Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Near Field Communication and Beacons, Shoppable Video, Video in Print, Programmatic and Retargeting Mail, Mobile and Social Media Shopping, Tactile, Sensory and Interactive Print, and Transpromotional Messaging on bills and statements.
In 2020 these same promotions will exist and will be taken advantage of by hundreds of customers. Customers who send high volume mail can save tens of thousands of dollars by telling their brand story through Augmented Reality on their mailers. Registration period should be from March 1 – August 31, 2020 and the registration period should be January 15 – August 31, 2020.

Everything from the number of downloads to clicks, scans and beyond can be measured. If the experience proves enjoyable, direct mail recipients are likely to pass the direct mailing highlighted by augmented reality features to friends, family and others.
While these promotions only last for a limited time with certain restrictions, the cost savings they can ultimately provide will make them well worth it.
The discount is calculated in PostalOne! and applied to the postage statement at the time of mailing. The 2% discount is deducted from the postage amounts of qualifying product categories that are paid at the time of mailing.
